Our Approach

AdventureRoad is a company that strives to provide our readers with RV, camping, and outdoor product reviews and industry news & information, all from an RVer’s perspective. We look at it from how we use the products and what we do when we’re camping – fishing, hiking, swimming, grilling & smoking, or playing games like cornhole and ladder ball to name a few. We are always learning and finding new products. We try to focus and support small businesses and niche products, and some that are socially or environmentally conscious, but we also include the big box stores to provide the full view and possibly some comparisons.

If you have a product you’d like us to review, or maybe you have used a product that you think others should know about, we’d love to hear from you. We’ll do our best to include it on our site.

Our Story

From the personal aspect, we are a family of 7 (me, my wife, and 5 children) that have created many memories together while camping (we refer to it as camping while others may say RVing). My wife and I had taken a couple of tent camping trips before the kids arrived, but I knew if I was going to convince her to continue camping, it needed to be in an RV – a win-win in my opinion. Our first experience was renting an RV at Bailey’s RV Resort in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. That was enough to convince my wife to get our own RV. We went to a couple of RV shows and before we knew it, we had an RV. We purchased a new 2008 Flagstaff Super Lite 27BHSS. We were able to get 10 years out of that RV, although that was a stretch considering the kids outgrew it in about 6 or 7 years. We “upgraded” (in size and quality, not years) to a 2004 Cougar fifth wheel.

We are what seasonal folks refer to as Weekenders. We try to take 3 to 4 local weekend trips and one weeklong trip per year. We created a tradition with our friends where we get together at a minimum for Memorial Day each year. We have also created some great memories on our family trips to Maine, New Hampshire, Lake George/Lake Placid, and Parris Island, SC to see our son become a Marine.

Our family and business is based in Bolton, a small town in eastern Connecticut (pop. hovering around 5,000), with it’s “claim to fame” being the home of Simoniz’s headquarters and manufacturing.
